Why myopia management?
A tendency towards defective vision is already noticeable in the child at the age of 6. Depending on genetic predisposition, eye growth should be checked regularly even in young children.
Untreated myopia in children can lead to permanent vision problems and significantly reduce quality of life. An increase in myopia means much more than just stronger lenses.
Due to the growth in the length of the eye, the dioptric number increases. Various measures are in place to slow down the growth in length. The risks for eye changes increase with age.
Excessive elongation of the eye, as with severe myopia, increases the risk of developing retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataract or macular degeneration by up to forty times.
